PC-iRoute case study
Extracting data from a text file containing more than 1 million records to transfer to a credit database on the iSeries.
Business requirement
A text file is received on a weekly basis from an external organisation, the data is to be extracted and sent back to the iSeries.
Using PC-iRoute
- A PC-iRoute script is created to split the text file into individual fields. The number of decimal places in numeric fields is configured as well as whether or not the field can be negative.
- The script specifies the destination type as an iSeries file. The existing iSeries file is configured to always be replaced.
- Emails are configured to be automatically sent when the script is executed in order to inform the relavant users that the iSeries data is available.
- The script is configured to be executed automatically when triggered by the text file being placed in a specified folder
